Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

5.0

I was going to give this book a 4 star rating for a few reasons. It was an absolute page turner and given enough hours I could have read it all in one setting. However, for me, some of that suspense did die down after Clay's tape. I also felt the story was a bit contrived. What tipped me to the 5 star mark was the Q&A with the author at the end of the version I read. Honestly reading his thoughts on how and why he wrote the book, how he feels about the stigma of his controversial topic of suicide and why he chose the format he did made me appreciate the book that much more. I don't give 5 stars often, so thank you, Jay Asher.
