Twilight
by Stephenie Meyer
Middle school me would be absolutely appalled if I rated this anything other than 5 stars but here we are. I decided to start rereading the Twilight series in preparation for Midnight Sun, and I had such high hopes that I would love it just as much as I did in 7th grade, but unfortunately I was let down. Honestly, this was more of a 2 star book for me, but i couldn't do that because...nostalgia lol.
I do have some of the same opinions about characters as I did initially. I was such a hardcore Team Jacob gal and my feelings have not changed towards that (yet). I was expecting to like Edward more this time, but honestly, I cannot stand Edward. He's creepy, obsessive, and just very annoying. I was also quite annoyed with how Bella accepts anything Edward does. Watching her sleep? Okay in her book. Following her around town while she shops with her friends? Heck ya. However, I did appreciate that the book states she is 17-years-old and she actually acts her age. She is immature, angsty, and a little self-absorbed, but who isn't at that age? On the other hand, Edward is a 100-some-year-old guy in a 17-year-old body, so I can't make excuses for him.
Although this book was a disappointment, I'm still excited to read the rest of the series!
