As a teacher, I was so excited to read these personal stories about the kids that Clanchy taught. The idea that children teach us so much really resonates with me and this is explored in a variety of ways throughout this memoir. She describes the school experiences of children from working class backgrounds, immigrants, refugees and those with a diverse range of needs. I enjoyed reading her perspective on the benefits and challenges of the Inclusion Unit as you would assume that she would be against such practices but there were noticeable positives that came from this one to one time. It was refreshing to read something so honest and politically aligned to my own views - she hits the nail on the head! Will definitely be coming back to this book 📚
