catonashelf 's review for:
Wires and Nerve, Volume 1
by Marissa Meyer
Wires and Nerve is a quick, funny, and light-hearted read. I've missed the characters from the Lunar Chronicles; it's been a while since I read Stars Above, so it's so nice to revisit Cinder and the whole crew!
Except, in this graphic novel, we focus on Iko, the lovable robot with a 'glitchy' personality chip. This graphic novel reminded me so much of why I loved TLC in the first place, while introducing a new plot into the whole story. I believe this takes place shortly after Winter, giving us the whole 'what happens next?' after the series finale (that's not as far into the future as the Epilogue in Stars Above).
Iko's new job is hunting the rogue, genetically-engineered Lunar soldiers, who serve as the main issue for the series. I love the light tone of this new story. I flew through the pages of this graphic novel, as I did with all the books in TLC, definitely forgetting that this series weave in a lot of politics (in a good way, since not served well, they usually bore me).
My only critic is that the artwork could've been better, but this is completely my own preferrence. I thought making the art style less juvenile would've been better.
Now my wait for the second book starts now.
