Romcom isn't my go-to genre, but something about this small-town story of supernatural secrets and an academic's mission to save her department drew me in, and I'm so glad it did! 😁
What I love here is the combination of quintessential romcom elements with unexpected surprises that made it feel fresh, interesting and satisfying. There is no contrived 3rd act misunderstanding, instead the two MCs build an authentic and enjoyable relationship together, whilst working through Petra's struggle to save her ailing history department and understand the weird goings-on in Deadlights Cove. It's very well-written, and I adored the characters (especially Blaze, my new book-boyfriend) 😘
I absolutely devoured this book, reading it in a few days (which is fast for me!), and enjoying every minute. I will definitely be reading the sequel! 😍
