Babel by R.F. Kuang

5.0

This book delivered waaaay more than I was expecting! I had no idea was this book was about prior to starting it. I just knew that a lot of people really really liked it. After reading it, I realized that this book appears to a very wide audience, because it has a little bit of everything. I.E. fantasy, dark academia, historical fiction, historical England, historical China, friendships, betrayals, class-systems, and a sophistication that was over my head at times.

It was quite clear that Ms. Kuang has done her research not only is she a language scholar herself, but she's also a student of history and that is quite clear reading her book. Her ability to convey the view point of those that rarely have their voices heard. It was very moving to read. I will be recommending this book to anyone and everyone, because I think there's something in this book for each person to learn and grow from reading it.
