The Sound of Gravel
by Ruth Wariner
Wow
This is a powerful, heart-wrenching and riveting memoir. I finished it incredibly fast, I just had to know more and know what happens to the family. It’s one of those stories that afterwards I wonder how I had never heard of it. The Mormon Manson? One would think that story would have been bigger than it was. The author does an excellent job of telling the story without downplaying or making it seem like a she’s trying to “out-trauma” you, and with a story like hers, she definitely could have.
If you like memoirs, this is one I’d highly recommend.
