Flat Broke with Two Goats: A Memoir
by Jennifer McGaha
When a massive debt leads them into foreclosure, Jennifer and her husband move to a homestead in the mountains. There, they establish a garden and raise chickens and goats. It's a struggle as they learn to adapt to this new lifestyle.
While I wouldn't consider them to be flat broke since they can drop hundreds of dollars on goats and chickens, they do certainly struggle. I guess it's all a matter of perspective. At times, they make gambles with what money they do have, hoping for a positive outcome later down the road. There are parts of the book that I could really relate with wanting to go more back to your roots and connect with things your grandparents did.
