Here’s the thing. I had fun reading this. I have a soft spot for childhood friends to lovers, so parts of this were really enjoyable. BUT it ultimately felt like too many tropes thrown together and done in a way that didn’t quite work.

Because, yes it’s childhood friends to lovers. But it’s also second chance, fake dating, and only one bed. And while there’s that tension and build up at first, they get together almost immediately when they reunite. Which makes the fact that start fake dating confusing considering they’re already sleeping together, and it also makes the attempt at an only one bed trope feel off…because they’re already sleeping together.

So I did like aspects of this - I still liked Gabe and Michelle together, and I love the family in these books - but I wouldn’t say this was the best.
