As someone who is very close to my sister, I feel a lot of things in stories when those relationships are front and center. I empathized so hard with Alex and can’t imagine the pain that would come from losing someone so close as a twin. Add in the pain and then healing in Oliver and then Emery and Sammie and you have a beautiful story. There were some really important and beautiful thoughts about mental health and about overcoming trauma in here as well. Sometimes we do, indeed, need to fall apart to fall back together stronger.
Moderate: Death and Rape
The sister and mother have experienced past rape. It is not discussed graphically but there is heavy victim shaming and unsealed trauma with both women.
