The Idiot Gods by David Zindell

Did not finish book.

I have to admit that it's a skill to write a book this annoying. The author tried to go for a very flowery and deep sounding writing style, but it ended up being so incredibly boring and headache-inducing since every goddam sentence is written in a very pseudo-intellectual sounding way. Couldn't make it past 50 pages.
