Fremdes Land by James Lee Burke

The writing of this book was beautiful. The first half was slow bit picked up in the second half. A story about loyalty, bravery, friendship, love, and the American Dream. I thought the character development was great. I came to really like Weldon and Hershel. Two men who became brothers during the War. It was then that they met Rosita. While we know a lot of her war experience I didn't feel we got to know her very well. She was loved form the moment she entered the story but I never understood why. I also never understood the anti-semitism. Weldon felt if but I never saw that as the motivation for the hatred felt towards them. All this being said this is still a novel that makes you root for our heroes and feel that ultimate justice is and can be the rule.
