On a Flight to Sydney by J.A. Forde

5.0

Only after finishing this book I realised that this was the author debut novel. Wholly hell. Really?
I never would have guessed. I really liked her writing style and the way to get us attached to both the story and characters. What a way to launch herself!!!

I really loved both main characters. They both were so honest and true, and actually very relatable.
Joss is a flight attendant and while on one of work travels she gets the attension of one of her passengers. A very gorgeous one.
Wes is taking a flight to Sydney, taking a leap of faith and changing is life and all he needs to leave behind.
They have a very entertaining meet cute on that flight, and the attractions explodes.
Some instant attraction books feel somewhat forced, but that's so not the case here. The author was able to transform this attraction as if it was a growing thing (when it was not) and at the same time had us rooting for them to go for it! It gets us thinking like 'Hell, the attraction is there! Just go with it!'
Soon they realise that not only they are attracted to each other, but also (mainly by living very close to one another) they become very good friends.
I can't point out who falls harder.. maybe Wes.

“You could be throwing up and I’d hold your hair and tell you you’re beautiful. There’s not a version of you that wouldn’t be hot to me.”

But it's really a tie on those feelings.
And then the fear starts. Fear of losing each other, because being friends is clearly not enough. So they supress it while they can.
We can feel their pain, theirs sadness, their grief, but also their joy, their friendship and mainly their love!
They eventually overcome those fears and embrace all thosse feelings, and it really is a delight to be part of their love story! It's heart melting!

The side characters, like Jaz, and Breck added so much, and gave that found family vibe that we so many times long for. It would be nice to see their stories too..

I can't say enough how I enjoyed this story, really! 🥰
