The Opposite of Everyone by Joshilyn Jackson
3.0
I like Joshilyn Jackson. I like her poetic but unflinching writing about the south.
That said, I didn't think this was her strongest work.
Most of the characters seemed fairly one note and predictable. And the primary plot points, a life defining struggle for the protagonist, didn't ring true for me.
Still, it was a reasonably compelling story, with a musicality of language, and I was never tempted to put it down and move on to something else.
