This book probably took me the longest to read out of all the books I’ve read. Almost two months.
This book purports to be a giant epic fantasy in which the main character destroys an entire race of alien, blows up a sun, and is considered both a hero and a monster. None of the events in this book are anywhere close to that. I understand it’s a large series and that it’s written as a memoir so the whole series is a large recounting of events leading up to that ending, but it was a little misleading I think.
While I don’t mind reading complex prose, this bordered on the edge of convoluted without really adding anything. The story was glacially slow, the characters one dimensional and not very relatable.
The main character doesn’t really take any initiative to do anything..? He sort of fails upward while events happen TO him or around him. And it happens enough times that I actually noticed it going on and it got very predictable and boring.
