Love & Other Disasters by Anita Kelly

i really wanted to love this one and i just didn’t.
what was a really hyped up book on bookstagram seemed really cute and it was my first queer romance, with one of our mc’s being non-binary and i’d never read a book like that before.
i really think it was the plot as a whole that really didn’t do it for me. it’s all about baking (i know nothing about the show but it gave me the great british baking show vibes) and i honestly hate things like that or any type of reality tv stuff, which is exactly what this book was
also for being a queer romance, our other mc who is female was recently divorced from her husband but had known she was queer throughout their marriage. with london being her first person outside of her husband to be in a relationship with, i thought it would shed some light on the turmoils and figuring things out aspect of their relationship but it felt like she never really fell for them, and it was only ever london who seemed romantically interested
i don’t believe that had anything to do with her sexuality and more the author not making it clear she returned their feelings really at all. when they share their first romantic moment it surprised me because i felt they hadn’t gotten to that point yet and from them on it’s pretty steamy between them and i just couldn’t understand how.
