While I didn’t like this one as much as the other Becky Chambers book I had already read (To Be Taught if Fortunate), it was still a pretty positive and enjoyable story. This book is definitely more character-focused and also driven by world-building. The characters are lovable and diverse and (as I’m a sucker for found family stories made up of misfits) I enjoyed seeing how they all came together and figured out life on board the Wayfarer. I will say that I could have used a bit more action earlier on, or at least some more tension to have the characters grow and grow together. I did still enjoy the little nuggets of commentary on how this universe compares to our current societal reality.
