Princess: A True Story of Life Behind the Veil in Saudi Arab by Jean Sasson

What an engrossing, page-turner read!  I had finished this book in 1.5 days despite a very busy routine, and that might be able to tell how engaging the book was. The writing was smooth and wonderful and kept the pace steady and the reader on hook for what's going to happen next.
Based on a real life story of a current times Saudi Arabia princess, this book is both controversial and enlightening. The realities of lives of Saudi royals from a female perspective is harrowing. The writing is intense and aptly reflects the anguish and plight of the narrator.  Sultana was an amazing character, her strong headedness and genius, along with her wit and charm, unreal in the face of the life she had. To imagine it was not just a fictional character but the story of a real life princess and people associated with her was hard, but very eye opening. You can feel through her story the reason for her rebellion and empathize with it, too. Looking at someone's life from a tinted glass and judging them for their choices and opinions is easy; it's not until you truly imagine yourself in their shoes and understand that your response might not have been too different either.
All in all, a great book. Has all the elements of an engaging read, and would be enjoyed by most.
