I loved this book and the recent film adaptation for very different reasons. In both versions, the sense of isolation and anonymity in an otherwise hectic world becomes palpable, and what should seem creepy somehow does not. The book stands out with a meticulously told story, connecting the protagonist back to an alien world, whereas the film lands a slow burn with a voluptuous ending to Frankie's The Power of Love. Very powerful and moving indeed, a story that stays with you for a long time.
