At some point I realized that Scarpetta would have a face-to-face meeting with the killer, I just couldn't guess how it would go down. Frankly, this feels like a cop-out to me. I don't like it when I read police investigation fiction and the case is solved because the main character has an encounter with the criminal, where the criminal chooses the MC to be the next victim. But during the encounter, I definitely got a bit scared and my heart was beating a lot, I had to turn all the lights on in the house because I was terrified, lol. I suppose that was an accomplishment for the book.

Again, too much police work and not enough forensic pathology. I bought this book because I knew Scarpetta was a forensic pathologist and I was hoping to read lots about pathology methods. I guess I should have expected this though, a police investigation through the eyes of the pathologist. Otherwise, I don't have many complaints. Definitely an entertaining read.
