2.5 stars. This was a forgetable thriller that failed to make me believe its premises. In particular the main threat was outrageous and didn't seem to be totally satisfactorily dealt with -

. The characters were pretty good, though we maybe could have spent more time with them. I would anticipate this author improving given this practice run and his impressive film pedigree. I thought [b:Spiral|9472760|Spiral|Paul McEuen|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320484486l/9472760._SY75_.jpg|14357890] was maybe a better example of a fungus-based thriller. This was the definition of a 2.5 star book and really makes me wish goodreads let me rate out of 10.
