This graphic novel follows Lou an Bea as they both try to run away from their lives. Both are lesbians and it focuses on the familial/friendship bond they develop through this journey, supporting each other. The vivid palette and fantastical atmospheres are once again one of Walden's strongest points. Even the most simple panels are so gorgeous and full of though. I especially love the use of silences and blank spaces when the narrative required it. Nonetheless, I feel like more character exploration and dialogues could have helped me understand and love Lou, Bea and Diamond (the adorable cat they find) more. It is a cozy queer read but it also briefly deals with a heavy topic: sexual assault, so beware of it before reading it. Overall, I really like Walden's artwork (especially 'On a Sunbeam') and I would love to read more.
