The Exorcist
by William Peter Blatty
This book is an absolute masterpiece. It still stands the test of time, after almost 50 years in print. The film version is surprisingly close to what’s in the book, but the book gives us a much more intimate look at what’s going on in the minds and histories of the characters trying to help Regan.
I grew up being shied away from this story by people who feared its influence and evil. But the surprising thing about this story is that, at its core, it’s all about good’s ability to conquer evil. And it’s about finding inner strength and faith, and having morals and a conscience, and about making the right choices toward being a decent human being.
Absolutely would recommend this to any horror fan who also appreciates a deep, introspective look at the human condition.
