Not Just Gal Pals
by Elizabeth Luly
SUMMARY:
after being almost cancelled, social media influencer jenny lynton moves back to her hometown, sapphire springs, for a few months to let things cool off. while there, she runs into blake, someone who she thought always hated her in high school, despite being the only two out girls in their year. but blake didn’t actually hate jenny, she’s actually just super awkward around people she has a crush on. they decide to try out a casual fling while jenny is in town. but what happens when she leaves?
WHAT I LIKED:
sapphire springs sounds like the best little town to live in. small town romances are dangerous for me to read as they romanticize the small town life, and i know deep down i’d be miserable (bc i love me some starbies), but in my head it’s always ‘look how happy __ & ___ were!!” elizabeth luly paints the perfect picture of a picturesque little small town that is accepting of everyone. blake and jenny were so sweet together, and i absolutely loved the ending. such a sweet romance!
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
my only criticism is that the ending felt a little rushed to me.
TLDR:
absolutely recommend this book to get you into the fall mood! recommended to anyone who loves small town romances, hopelessly awkward lesbians, and friends-with-benefits (aka lets just get it out of our system aka idiots to lovers 🙂)
