Being shy of four months since my divorce was finalized to who I thought was my first love and the love of my life, this book defintely called me out my name (in a good way). It allowed me to see that I was accepting abusive patterns of behavior and the bare minium from someone who claimed they supposedly loved me. This book helped me to see how my childhood trauma translated into who I selected as my romantic partner and validated the steps I have taken on my healing journey. I lost my voice and somewhere down the line didn't recognize the shell of a person I had become until it was too late. The unfortunate part is that my story is not unique because it seems to be a common them among women when in a relationship with a heterosexual man.
