In 1948, after five miscarriages, Irene and her husband George decided for her to move to a remote home run by two doctors who claimed to know how to help women carry babies to term. But things aren't what they seem-including a garden that has magic powers. What lengths will Irene and these women go to to deliver healthy babies? And who has autonomy over women?

This was a creepy, thought-provoking read. It had shades of Shirley Jackson and some gothic undertones while being rooted in reality and looking at the ways women have had to fight for their rights. I thought it was a fascinating story.
