Local Woman Missing
by Mary Kubica
Hooked at times but dragged at others
Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica was a bit of a mixed experience for me. Some parts completely pulled me in—I was flipping pages late into the night, needing to know what came next. Kubica definitely knows how to build suspense and keep you guessing.
But other parts felt like a push to get through. The pacing was uneven, and while the plot twists were meant to shock, they didn’t quite land for me. I ended up feeling more underwhelmed than surprised, and the ending left me with a heavy heart.
What really stuck with me, though, was the emotional weight of the story. It’s a chilling reminder of how one event can ripple out and destroy so many lives. It hurt to read at times—not because of the writing, but because of the raw, painful consequences each character had to face.
An okay read overall, with moments of intensity and emotion, but not quite the thriller I was hoping for.
