The Victorian City: Everyday Life in Dickens' London by Judith Flanders

5.0

I read this book with a view to understanding what life may have been like for my ancestors many of whom came to North America from London. I was not disappointed. Flanders provides a huge volume of entertaining detail about life in the 1800's in England. The work is written in a style easily accessible to the lay person, while being carefully documented in a scholarly fashion. I have added several other works by her to my "Want To Read" list.
