The world building and story concept were great, but the execution just didn't hit right for me. The emotional development between the couple barely existed, it felt like it just happened. It also didn't sit well with me that Simon used "buddy" and "big pink bastard" as pet names. It seemed patronizing and almost condescending to me. This one just wasn't for me, despite liking the world and story concept.
