This is not the type of book you’re meant to fly through.

This is one that you’re meant to sit with, let yourself cozily sink into, and savor.

If you don’t love vividly descriptive world building this one probably isn’t going to be for you… but for those of us who really enjoy that type of thing, this one feels special. The plot line wasn’t necessarily fast, but it baited me just enough to have questions that needed answers. It definitely takes a long time to really get going, but I found myself enjoying the ride.

The magic system is intriguing, I wish I got to see a bit more of that, and hope to in the following books. There was a gothic almost caraval type feeling going on. Steady character development, and a whirlwind of an adventure. I really love our FMC Ophelia, and the tension between her and thorn…. phew i’m along for the ride on this slow burn.

This whole thing book felt like a fever dream, and has made a quite a lasting impression on me.
