A Good Day to Marry a Duke by Betina Krahn
4.0

It's probably wrong that my strongest reaction is that the heroine's last name makes me wince. Every time. Her name is Daisy Bumgarten, and I know German last names get Americanized and maybe the author was trying to make a point with giving her a vulgar new-money last name, but it does make me cringe. Anyway, I like Daisy, she's energetic and determined to marry a duke to force New York City upper-crust society to accept her and thus pave the way into society for her younger sisters. She sets her sights on Arthur, a duke who is also a naturalist and who gets very excited about butterflies. Unfortunately, Arthur's family recruits his younger brother, Ashton, to ruin Daisy and thus disqualify her from making a noble match. It all gets very interesting when the attraction starts to build between Daisy and Ashton. Each discovers truth about self and truth about the other. It's a good start to a series.
