Here’s the thing.
Emiline and Jase’s past told from a fictional perspective was way more of a page-turner than the main story of this book itself—which was how they found each other again 12 years later. Add to that the bland prose and diction of this book… it certainly didn’t help matters. Dialogue 80% dominated the whole book—which I normally would LOVE—but the dialogue was so bland and most of the times even stilted in a way that felt like the author didn’t understand the characters very well and therefore would just make shit up as they went.
And what was worse was that both the main characters were WRITERS—one a supposedly critically-acclaimed bestselling author and one a creative writing instructor. A bit ironic if you ask me, when the writing was abysmal. Such a let-down.
