Rudy has an exceptional way of tying together poems about life, love, and race. I’d watched performances of several of his poems before I read the book and it was just as magical to read them as it was to hear them performed. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, despite already being excited to read it before I received a free digital galley from the publisher.
