Street Cultivation
by Sarah Lin
I liked this book so much I got half way through the next one before I remembered to even write a review. The magic system is cool and the fights are immersive but the book really stands out for thinking through the tough choices of a poor character makes to overcome his hardships in a world where money, status, magical energy, and magical skills are knotted together.
I found the beginning a bit confusing at first and some terms like "generation rate" don't sound like what they mean, but after shaking myself of any presumed definitions that didn't match the complex blend of economic and magical system finally started making sense.
Can't wait to see how the rest of the series develops.
