A World Without Heroes by Brandon Mull

3.0

A story about a teen-age boy transported in an entertaining way into another world. Pretty standard sci-fi/fantasy fare. This unfortuntely doesn't separate itself from many other much better offerings. A mostly generic tale with not much/any magic, a mostly omnipotent bad guy who is not always omnipotent, only by choice? A quest which only has a couple of climactic parts and a seriously bad cliffhanger at the end.

The story does have some inventive and interesting characters and several interesting locations but other than that it was neither good nor bad. The kids and I won't be listening to the next one.
