The Witch Hunter
by Virginia Boecker
Really could not get into this. The protagonist is pretty much an amalgamation of all the 'cool', 'badass' things a YA female lead must be... but she hates tight spaces so you know, depth. From the offset of the novel, the blurb tells us Elizabeth is the Kings best witch hunter... Could have fooled me! To be blunt, this girl is stupid and messes up constantly. The King needs to invest in new hunters if she's his best.
This is also set in the 1500s but is so inaccurate. I'm all for letting a few things slide but you at least have to get the language right. I kept forgetting this wasn't set today until some random 'old English' word was thrown in for good measure.
Not a fan. For many other reasons but those were my biggest put offs. OH wait. That's a lie. There's a love triangle. Because that's what's romantic right? What we want to read? WRONG.
