Ground Zero by Aimee Nicole Walker

2.0

DNF after 200 pages.

I wanted to love this and it was not bad per se... but it was soooooooo sloooooow. In two hundred pages we got the hapennings of 1.5 days.... you realize that basically means describing every single little thing?
And in the 1.5 days the MCs solved 1.5 homicides and had zero chemistry whatsoever. The single third person POV provided limited insight into what was happening with the MCs so we got one gay man lusting over his supposedly straight new partner who admittedly hates his guts from the very first moment... fun times.
The funny remarks between them were forced for me and simply couldn't find the sizzling, enemies-to-lovers vibes.

There were so many potential things to love! I actually liked that the investigations were described in detail but it lacked the emotional storyline going forward in the meantime.
I liked the MCs grieving backgrounds that I think will provide a lot of angsty and emotional moments in the rest of the trilogy but I just can't read it.

It's. Too. Slow.
