Completely amusing and awesome!
This book was so much different than I imagined it would be, but in a good way. Honestly, it was much better than I originally thought.
So, this book is probably the weirdest book I've ever read. But it was amazing. Like, it had all of the cool Supernatural beings, like werewolves, vampires, faeries, and witches in it, bringing them all together to communicate and interact. It also dealt with a lot of teenage issues, such as romance and parental problems.
The plot was pretty straight-forward and fast-paced. But it kept you very interesting, or at least very amused. A lot of things that happened in the book was made to be humorous, and not a lot of things were taken too seriously, but when they were, it happened amazingly. I really liked how everything came together in this book. It wasn't so much of a storyline happening, though. I believe this book was meant so you could get to know the characters, and understand the world, as well as get the rest of the plot for the next four books started up. Overall, this book had all the good things a book should have; loads of humor, a good world, normal teenage problems, love, and betrayal...It was all pretty good.
I liked most of the characters. Kylie, the main character, did annoy me at first. She was in denial through a lot of the book, and that just made me mad. And she was acting very immature when it came to dealing with her parents. Also, she wouldn't really give any of the guys a chance, but she kept leading them on. But, in the end, she really did grow, and I really started to love her.
Derek, the guy that instantly starts liking her, was pretty awesome. He was cute and very generous with her feelings, and he was also very protective. Although, I did get a bit of a bad vibe from him, but let's hope that's just because I am on the team of the other guy that likes her...
Lucas. He is more of a rugged, hot type. At first, he was more closed off, and thought to be an enemy, but then you find out otherwise and learn some of his past. At this point, I thought he was awesome, but still very mysterious. But once you got to know him more, you saw he was also very protective. He was a pretty good character, and I'm hoping to see him more in later books.
There was also Kylie's new friends; Miranda, Della, and Perry. They are all of different supernatural species, and they all made the book to be better, if not more funny.
Overall, this book was really good, and I will definitely be reading the others.
