Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi

So... That was one hell of a disappointment. I love Rick Riordan, and when I learned about his imprint, I knew that it was something that I wanted to support. I had read - and loved The Serpent's Secret by Sayantani DasGupta months prior so when I knew that Aru Shah was another MG book with indian mythology, I knew I had to get my hands on it. It should be fun!

Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. I did not like any single character in this book: I disliked Boo with a passion, Mini was the most annoying character ever, and Aru... *sigh* Aru was just...boring. As a matter if fact, the entire book bored me to death. I forced myself to read about the first 200 pages, and then skimmed through the rest because I just could not care less. And that made me so sad.

Maybe it's the writing, because the plot was pretty standard (I don't have anything against quests and everything, I actually love the whole thing!) and honestly had so much potential but... something did not work out for me. I don't think I'll read the next installment but it was such a major letdown for me..... Maybe Chokshi is not an author for me.

It was honestly one of my most anticipated releases of 2018, and it was so underwhelming and disappointing. If ever you did not like this book but want to read another MG book with indian mythology, then I strongly recommend [b:The Serpent's Secret|32618983|The Serpent's Secret (Kiranmala and the Kingdom Beyond, #1)|Sayantani DasGupta|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1495562210s/32618983.jpg|53206336] by [a:Sayantani DasGupta|684407|Sayantani DasGupta|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1299775871p2/684407.jpg]. I really enjoyed that one.
