If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane

4.0

I really enjoyed this and even though it didn't quite nail the landing, it's a memorable story well-told. The story is completely from Laurie's perspective which worked well for me; the early portion of the book is totally about the end of her 18 year relationship and that felt appropriate here, but it does mean that less of the book is devoted to the central romance than I'm used to. I knew that going in, which is why I'm mentioning it--I think it was good that I went in prepared for a book that wasn't solely about the romance between Laurie and Jamie, especially at the beginning.
