I find this book really odd. When I think back on reading it--I know I've read it before but I just didn't rate it apparently--I feel like I love the book. However, when I actually read it, I'm not sure that I do. I know I like it, and the illustrations are amazing because Klassen is fabulous, but it's just one of those books that doesn't have a definitive purpose/message and kind of makes me go "Huh." I am still excited to read the other books in the series, especially since a new one just came out, but I don't think this is my favorite.

For: readers wanting a book with shapes; readers wanting a kooky adventure story.

Possible red flags: lying/manipulation/characters not being truthful; characters playing sneaky tricks; characters in slight peril.
