Hidden Waters by Catherine Cowles
slow-paced
3.5
This book follows Beckett & Addie. Addie had a really bad childhood with a very abusive father that she still unfortunately deals with. Beckett ran away from his family when things got hard and he felt a certain incident was his fault. So both characters are broken and struggling with their pasts. Beckett decided to come back when something bad happened to his sister and he’s now the town doctor. He ends up needing a place to stay and Addie is staying in his brother’s other house so they ask if he can stay there, too. This book has way more suspense to it because of Addie’s dad and his men. We get to see Beckett turn into an overly protective caring man and will do anything and everything for Addie. Seeing the love blossom between Beckett and Addie and seeing how patient this man was during it all 🥹 I did find that the suspense took up a lot of the book which is understandable considering Addie’s past. I just found at times it was very repetitive and I ended up skimming parts. It was a good addition to the series just not my favorite.
