The Enchanted Greenhouse
by Sarah Beth Durst
This was such a pleasant surprise!
Terlu, a librarian who broke the law by using magic to make a sentient plant so she could have a friend (so sad honestly) gets punished and get turned to a wooden statue. Suddenly she comes alive, and finds herself in an unfamiliar island surrounded by greenhouses, and only one person living there. Yarrow, a gardener, who needs a sorcerer to help with the failing greenhouses. Together they work to save the greenhouses and the island. But that may not be enough.
I loved this so much more than The Spellshop. The plot was fast paced and well done. I loved Terlu and Yarrow's relationship. They were well rounded characters, who had their own issues and trauma. Their relationship felt so natural.
We get to know more about the background of the world and the magic. The side characters felt more flushed out. Overall a really great cozy fantasy and the narrator added more life to it.
I recommend this if you want a cute and quick read.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio for an ALC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
