The Jinni Key: A Little Mermaid Retelling by Bethany Atazadeh

3.0

The Little Mermaid was the only princess story I was willing to watch as a kid, probably because it's not about a human. So I was excited for this.

Most of the time I know where the stories (the romance part at least) go, so I'm not nervous about them, but this time there were two paths it could take and the whole time I was like "please, don't let it be true to the original". Because it would have been so stupid.

But Bethany didn't disappoint! Even if I had an idea about the love story, I still wasn't sure how it'll turn out until the end.

This is a really loose retelling. A smart one.
