"Weapons win battles, people win wars, but true power can start and end both."
"War is coming and it will not confine itself to an hour."
Lauren Loscig is a debut author with her first novel, War Hour, releasing on the 26th of November, 2023.
I recieved an ARC and I am choosing to provide an honest review.
I am going to come right out and say it - 'War Hour' has got to be one of the greatest debut novels I have ever read. The author has a phenomenal writing style. Each chapter was written with intention, allowing the novel to flow, like the ocean that our FMC, Lysta, is in awe of. I read multiple chapters where the last sentence of the chapter prior was in direct contention with the first sentence of the next and had to go back and forth between the pages, not believing my eyes. This was genius and had me experiencing some shocked emotional reactions. Every character was flushed out and had unique interworkings in their lives, giving the reader stake into the court politics and relationships developed.
Overall, I was really impressed by the author's first book in The Broken Trials series (while writing this, my mind was blown by connecting the series name with the possible direction of the next books). I look forward to reading more, so much in fact, it pains me that I will have to wait patiently for the next books. However, I am excited to follow the reading journeys of others when they discover the magic of War Hour and cannot wait to discuss it in-depth with the family and friends I will push to read this book. My conspiracy theories are plentiful!
