Every Hour until Then by Gabrielle Meyer
4.0
4 Stars.
🕰️ The vibes:
- book 5 in interconnected standalones
- Time travel
- Faith themes
- Jack the Ripper mystery
- Closed door
🕰️ My thoughts:
This is book 5 in the interconnected standalone series Timeless, and in this one we follow Kathryn who is living in two timelines. She alternates between 1888 and 1938 which is especially fascinating because these timeframes are not THAT far apart! It made the urgency in keeping her paths untouched even more difficult.
🕰️ In 1938, she is selected to curate an entire exhibit on the terror of Jack the Ripper that occurred in the 1880s. When Kathryn finds out that not only is she living in the same area that Jack is about to start his murderers, but that her sister will be his final victim, she refuses to stay uninvolved as per the time travel rules dictate.
🕰️ The entire case of Jack the Ripper had me ON EDGE this entire book. I truly think Gabrielle Meyer is a genius for the way she interweaves two actual historical timelines and then adds the creative layer of what COULD have happened.
🕰️ I felt a little bit confused with some of the history elements but it made me want to do a full deep dive into [redacted part of history].
🕰️ This book explores even more of the little details in time travel, and I think the author does an incredible job at continuing to build the world of time travel while also staying true to her time travel rules that started the series. I have loved to see the new ways she has breathed more life into this series, and I’m sad that I’m offically caught up on all of the books in this series that are out so now I have to wait for the next one to release.
🕰️ If you enjoyed the concept of book 1, I insist you read ALL of them. There’s something new in every single book that makes this series continue to be exciting.
