I read this right after reading The Burning about the Tulsa Massacre and am struck at how much white America did to harm the Japanese population in every aspect from stealing their homes to destroying their businesses and more like thr white Americans did to Black Wall Street in Greenwood, Tulsa. Our history has so many times that white has won by force and it's disheartening when that still keeps happening. Takei ends with more hopeful notes which shows a deep faith in both others and democracy that he doesn't have to hold.
