The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

5.0

While I had a feeling this book would be good from the praise it’s received over the past few years of it’s literary life, the impact it has had on me has completely taken me by surprise. Black identity, racism, classism, family dynamics, sisterhood, marriage, “what ifs”, life-changing choices, trans rep, generational trauma—what doesn’t this book have?! And the fact that this story is executed at a concise, high level proves its brilliance. This remind me why I love reading and how one day I will absolutely host book club dinner parties so I can get together with friends and just talk and talk and talk about incredible books such as this.
