Now this was not what I was expecting from this book. There were a lot of things I couldn't get behind with this one, mainly Marcus hiding SO MUCH to April for so long, it was driving me nuts. Honestly, I was reading and having anxiety because dishonesty is just something I DO NOT vibe with and I was just waiting for the bomb to drop the entire time. I kind of understand why he felt he had to do it, but for four months?? No, sir. It was just bad. Also, I felt like things escalated so fast between the two main characters in a way that was just not my vibe. I live for the slow burn, so this felt unbelievable and predictable to me. I loved the elements of pop culture and fanfiction incorporated in this, as well as the plus sized representation (and the fact that the characters are older than 30!! who knew people pass that age could find love?? *gasp*). However, these things did not save this book from being pretty average and frustrating to me.
