I loved the original trilogy, and while I also loved seeing a whole new aspect to the world that Pullman created, I felt like this story was slightly lacking in narration. It often felt a bit jilted, but I did appreciate the darker themes that he dealt with in this book. Needless to say I'm reading the next one and am anticipating the release of the third one later this year!
